| The Sky Lantern Lighting Ceremony |
| To memorialize and to honor all our deceased classmates, we will be lighting Sky Lanterns and release them into the sky at the Maribago Resort beach as we sing the memorial song that Zinnia Bacol-Giron composed for this occasion. Vladi Santos and Alice Pecson-Cuento will also recite the Tagalog version of the song, "Follow the Lights" . |
|
Sky lanterns, also known as “Kongming” (Mainland China), “:Pingsi” (Taiwan) or Khoom Loy” (Thailand) are traditionally made of oiled rice paper with a bamboo frame that contains a small candle or fuel cell. When lit, the heat and smoke created causes the lantern to rise into the air thereby becoming airborne. It is often used in many different forms of celebrations. This year, U.S.T. Medicine Class’67 will have a Sky Lantern ceremony to memorialize all our deceased classmates during our Ruby Jubilee reunion in Mactan at the Maribago Bluewater Resort on Dec. 11th. |
