One of our very own, Ging Salanga ushered in the celebration of the Ruby Jubilee celebration of UST Medicine'67 in Manila by delivering the 298th Luis Ma. Guerrero Lecture in the CME auditorium of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery on December 7, 2007. Many of us were in attendance during his lecture and we enthusiastically cheered him on as he was introduced by Willie Lagdameo. Following the lecture, while Ging Salanga got sequestered with residents and fellows in Neurology at the hospital, we were feted to a delectable brunch by Dean Garayblas-Gonzaga and key members of the school administration followed by a fascinating tour of the medical school facilities including the large informatics section and the proposed site of the OSCE – our Ruby Legacy.

Practice, practice, practice
In preparation for our class presentation during the USTMAA Grand Ball on December 16, 2007, Juliet Aliga-Yap ably assisted by the rest of our host classmates in the Philippines and her hired D.I.’s drilled everyone on the required dance moves whenever there was any opening in our hectic schedule. Going all out to make certain that our class presentation was according to the high standards that we have set for ourselves in previous class presentations, the DI’s even went with us during our trip to Mactan and again worked with all of us whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Fore!
Willie Lagdameo and Romy Diaz hosted a mini-golf tournament of UST Medicine’67 at the Hacienda Luisita GC on December 8th. A total of 14 enthusiastic golfers all left by bus early in the morning and took the three hour trip to the golf course. Playing a complicated scramble format with the players being divided into two and three-men teams and with the team handicap being determined using the Callaway system, Willie Lagdameo and Ging Salanga bested everyone by getting the most peso winnings.

Welcome Reception
As planned, our Philippine-based classmates enthusiastically hosted all of us to a Welcome dinner reception at the poolside area of the Ritz Towers on December 9th. The ensuing rain did not dampen a bit the fun-filled night full of laughter, singing, reminiscing, dancing and general camaraderie. Menchie Gisbert added to the levity of the evening by emceeing and distributing “special awards” to well-deserving classmates.
